About Wolves XC
Eastlake Cross Country is about more than just winning...but we like that too!

Cross Country is possibly the most unique and challenging sport in which a High School student can participate.

There is no such thing as a natural born runner. This is one of the best things about running. In order to get better, you just have to do it. It doesn't matter if you've been running for 6 years, or 6 days, at Eastlake you can come out for XC, get in shape, and have a blast doing it! You are a runner, you just might not know it yet.

We believe running is fun, and can be enjoyable for everyone. Most of our workouts and races are done in parks and on trails, throughout the Seattle area. We also attend three amazing invitationals in Leavenworth, Portland, and the 3-Course Challenge in Seaside, OR.

Throughout the season and years our team develops into a family-like group. We strive to create an open, caring, and inviting environment where everyone can feel the joy of success. Our definition of success encompasses much more than just winning or having a league or state competitive team. Success means each runner realizes and reaches their individual potential as an athlete, but more importantly as a young person.

XC is fun, difficult, easy, and really fun!

Troy Anderson, Head Coach
Troy has been coaching at Eastlake since 2001 in both Track and Cross Country. In that time he has helped hundreds of young people discover the joy of running and attaining their goals.

Many of his runners think Troy is evil, but he really just feels misunderstood. "Just because I think running up Bridal Crest Trail for 90 minutes sounds like a fun workout doesn't mean I'm evil...does it?"

A life time runner and past Track and XC athlete, Troy believes that running can be a great medium to help young people learn more about themselves, others, and the world at large. "Running is more than just a sport or activity. Through running I believe we can each discover much more about ourselves and our place in the world. For me, there are very few greater joys in life than a trail run, where it is just me and nature."

Jody Anderson, Assistant Girls Coach
Jody loves cross country and loves coaching XC. She has been coaching at EHS since 2003 both Track and XC. Her love of running largely stems from growing up in a home immersed in running. Her father would take her on runs as a kid and tell stories of his high school and college running experiences. He was lucky enough to run at Marshfield high school with a legend...Pre.
Many of the challenging workout she's devises are inspired from workouts her dad remembers running with Pre during their XC practices.
Jody still enjoys running, especially on trails around Redmond.

Ryan Gilbert, Assistant Boys Coach

This season will be Ryan's third coaching EHS XC. Ryan is a science teacher at Inglewood Junior High and also coaches the insanely successful and unworldly IJH Track as well as the JV boys basketball team at Eastlake.

Steve Skinner, Assistant Coach

This season will be Steve's second coaching EHS XC. Steve also coaches EHS Track where he oversees some of the most crazy and successful hurdlers in the State.
